When a child enters a park, a process of curious exploration quietly unfolds. From the winding lines of gravel paths and the sound and feeling of stepping on stones, to the discovery of a snail or uniquely shaped leaf, minute yet distinctive experiences all draw children’s shifting attention and spark questions and imagination. Yet play is itself an important part of learning and creativity. As children, we play games and build dreams in the park, imagining the slide is a mountain or the swings are flying machines. As we get older, the park becomes a place to stroll, rest, meet up, and say goodbye. These seemingly ordinary yet profound experiences not only shape our sensibilities but also subtly influence our understanding of life and the city. A park is a vessel for the imagination as well as a familiar and ever-changing public sphere.
The educational program began with the concept “park reverie” to explore the interplay between shape and imagination, and between publicness and interactivity. Viewers are invited to explore Yuanshan through interactive artworks, installations, and sensory experiences, starting from its history and extending to the three sub-themes of form, natural features, and public character. Through these themes, participants learn to observe daily life, understand history, connect with nature, and imagine a future urban landscape, while also considering the nature of public space and solving problems with imagination.
