藝術家常玉：「我要表達的就是簡單。」本書收錄42幅版畫作品，少了材料、顏色的干擾，常玉專注於流暢線條，賦予線條生命律動。主題包含花卉、裸女、動物、陶潛詩集插圖，讓東方傳統與西方摩登在刻刀中相遇。

常玉是1930年代早期唯一創作西式版畫的中國藝術家。熟悉中國書法、印璽篆刻以及漆器雕刻的常玉，將流暢的線條融入版畫當中，他說：「我要表達的就是簡單。」少了材料和顏色的干擾，常玉的版畫精煉出對簡單樸實之喜愛。常玉注重流暢線條，曾言自己的藝術是不停追求完美線條，絕不矯飾造作，讓線條富有生命的呼吸、舞動。

本書收錄四十二幅常玉版畫，多半為未曾見世之作品，主題包含花卉、裸女、動物、陶潛詩集插圖。因為常玉之插畫作品，陶潛詩集穿越一千六百多年，橫越時空從中國來到法國，造就融合東方傳統與西方摩登的藝術成果。
