The craft and culture of Taiwanese indigenous people, however, are more than the brilliant colors and complicate patterns on the outside; they are the embodiment of ethnic cultural significances and signs. This exhibition is developed on the basis of Mr. Chen's collection and has four major focuses: costumes, sculptures, pottery, and basketry. On the one hand, the exhibition illustrates the art of Taiwanese indigenous peoples via these objects; on the other hand, the exhibition will interpret theseobjects from the perspectives of ethnic culture to highlight the cultural significances embedded within them. We hope this exhibition will bring to the audience the artistic amazement of indigenous crafts and some understanding of their primary cultural contexts. It is our hope to promote a harmonious and inclusive ethnic diversity in Taiwan.
