Customer Reviews
Since the inauguration of our museum 30 years ago, the "Taipei Art Awards" has continued to offer opportunities for artists to compete and show their artworks, with the objective of encouraging the development of a comprehensively vibrant creative environment. The exhibition held each year presents the latest art features and has earned the attention and recognition of the arts community. The cumulative outcomes generated also provide insights into contemporary art's development in Taiwan. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum had to temporary shut down for the first time in 2021, but it was also during this time that entries for the "Taipei Art Awards" were submitted by 346 artists/collectives. The turnout seems to reflect that the creative energy in Taiwan has not been dampened by the pandemic, and also included are many entries submitted by artists from overseas. It is exciting to see the "Taipei Art Awards" has attracted artworks that showcase different perspectives.

A total of 11 artists/collectives are presenting their works on the 3rd floor of TFAM this year, with each provided a comprehensive space to exhibit in, which also challenges their abilities to plan and utilize a given space. Several of the artists focus on themes related to local culture and employ unique presentation approaches and innovative imaginative ways to present their individual perspectives. There are also artists who reference their own personal backgrounds and seek to extend beyond the topography of Taiwan, in order to focus on a larger picture, with cross-cultural assimilation and conflicts explored. Also observed are artworks that depart from period-specific cultural patterns, seeking to integrate or overturn experiences in life and highlight features of the zeitgeist and the generation. Last but not least, there are also several artworks with themes that focus on stability and concentration, putting emphasis on various details in our surroundings that appear ordinary and are often overlooked.
