This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Li Shin-Chiao, who is one of the important masters in painting ever in the history of art in Taiwan. He accepted the strict training at college during the Japanese colonial period and several of his artworks were selected in the Empire Fine Arts Exhibition and Taiwan Fine Arts Exhibition. After undergoing the strong anti-Japan emotion emerging from the art world at the beginning of the recovery of Taiwan as well as the following of the modern western trend of painting, he still continued to work hard in creating art with his outstanding gift for painting.

His painting style contains various appearances, presenting his deep thinking of the essence of painting in the different periods of his creation, which not only establishes his personal unique style but also reflects the trend and features of the art development in Taiwan. As part of the celebration marking Li Shin-Chiao’s 100th birthday, this museum will expand the scale of the exhibition further displaying the representative artworks and related manuscripts and documents in each of his period to comprehensively present his creation style and art achievement.
