Joan Duran, a cultural commissioner from Belize and a professional exhibition planner, has started a “Landings” project since 2004 and held exhibitions in 10 different countries and areas. The “Landings” project provides a new platform for cultural space, and is consisted of current artists from Central America, the Caribbean, and Southeast Mexico. This Landings 8 exhibition will present works specially created for this project from 28 Caribbean artists and other artists from 12 Central American countries. This exhibition parts in 3: Handmade objects, large murals, and exports in exhibition room D; images created and projected through 7 protectors after editing in exhibition room E; sound players that play the different sounds artists recorded in exhibition room F. This “Landings” project planned by Belize attempts to enrich concurrent culture and position in the process of integration, celebration, question, and investigation. After research and discussion in different areas and cities, this exhibition expresses dynamic cultural messages through works of different materials and productions and brings the audience an Caribbean and Central American carnival of arts.
