Having lived in Paris and New York for 30 years since 1967 and returning to Taiwan in 1998, Paul Chiang encompasses elements of both East and West in his works. Today, he continues to transfigure his art embodying both East and West cultures.
After moving to Taitung in 2008, Chiang immersed his mind, body and soul into nature which inspired a dramatic shift in his art. Art that once reflected his innermost thoughts and feelings in dark and grey hues now depict vibrant colours of nature. The Paul Chiang Art Center – Chiang’s greatest work is currently under construction. It uses the concepts of land art and will be enriched in contemporary art, architecture, and nature. Through the art center, Chiang envisions sharing the arts culture of Taitung with the world.
