本館與財團法人春之文化基金會於2017年4月8至9日共同舉辦「檔案轉向：東亞當代藝術與臺灣（1960-1989）」國際學術研討會，引起藝術學界廣泛迴響。研討會邀集24位包括來自美、德、澳、新、馬、菲、中、港、日、韓、臺等多國學者和引言人與會，針對「檔案轉向：東亞藝術史的當代性」議題發表15篇論文，以及8篇有關「東亞檔案行動」和「當代東亞及臺灣藝術史平臺建構」圓桌論壇的個案研究進行討論與對話，是近年國內藝術界較具學術厚度以及視野廣度的國際會議。會議係回應近年來國際間對二次大戰後東亞各國的當代藝術的重探歷史趨勢：在全球化的背景下，東亞各國近期也紛紛成立藝術檔案庫，推動本國與亞洲各國基礎文獻與視聽資料的建置、譯介與策展。

本研討會專題聚焦於檔案與記憶。當下的檔案研究已成為世界性的跨世代議題，包括新世代的創作者也試著探索及重新參與―― 檔案無法決定真正記憶的本體，而是過去記憶的方法，也決定了未來記憶的形式。過去談論藝術終結之時，彷彿史學受到嚴峻挑戰，似乎當代論述掠奪了藝術探討的生態領域。在此刻，我們重新研究檔案是什麼，也樂見藝術史學與當代藝術論述聯合的研究成果―― 不僅是當代藝術論述的基盤，也是另類史學的再生；不僅整理過去，對未來也極具意義。
